get involved in the programs and make a difference in student’s
lives. There are a variety of committees where you can use your
talents and skills.

Digital Media Arts
All industry sectors use the talents of
people in the Creative World of Digital Media Arts. Students
will see the creative process used in the industry to develop
Animation and Game Design projects, Architectural design
presentations, web sites, graphic design literature and the creation
of 3D models through the use of the most current computer
technology.

Building Green -
Environmental Careers in Construction
Exciting changes are happening today in
the field of construction technology in order to keep up with the
new Green Building requirements. Every aspect of the
construction process is affected, from the design of the building,
changes to how energy issues are addressed, to the construction
materials being used. Students will tour a building that has been
built to meet the highest level of energy standards and meets the
Platinum LEED Standards.

Medical Careers in
Action - Laparoscopic Surgery Reenactment
Feel the energy of the emergency and
operating rooms of a hospital when professionals reenact an
emergency Laparoscopic surgical procedure. Students will have
the experience of seeing a medical procedure demonstrated in a
unique and engaging method of presentation. Career information
is integrated into the demonstration while students make the
connections between the world of medicine and their career path.

Dimension Rapid Prototype Additive Manufacturing (RPAM)
Tour the Saddleback College Advanced
Technology Center and participate in activities that include
hands-on opportunities to experience advanced technology in action.
This demonstration project will allow students to use some of the
most advanced and expensive machinery in the industry.

Trig Star Trigonometry Competition and
Surveying Challenge
Participate in one or both of the
competitions in this exciting, information-filled Saturday.
Trig Star Competition
Trigonometry students can enter the
national Trig Star trigonometry competition and use their math
skills to win cash prizes and be eligible to move on to the state
and national competition level. Sponsored by the California
Land Surveyors Association, this event provides an opportunity for
students to gain career information while competing for prizes.
Surveying Challenge
A hands-on competition using surveying
equipment allows students to do activities in our surveying obstacle
course. Learn about this high-paying industry with a large
demand for new workers. Win prizes and recognition for being
the competition winner. Students who have not yet taken
trigonometry can participate in the Surveying Competition only and
find the connection between math and their future career path.

UCI Laparoscopic
Surgery Training Center Tour and Demonstration
Students will have hands-on experience
with training modules, including laparoscopic trainers, a da Vinci
robot and the latest in surgical simulators. Students will try
threading sutures through loops and learn how to tie sutures using
open, laparoscopic and robotic techniques. Students will learn
more about the path to a professional career in medicine or
biotechnology.

organization, primarily funded through gifts from foundations,
corporations, fees for services, and the sale of the Vital Link
curriculum. Your support is an important part of the growth and
development of our programs and services.
Participate In a Career Forum
Vital Link needs business professionals
to participate as presenters at the Career Forums. The Forums
provide opportunities for students and educators to gain awareness
of a variety of career options within a specific industry. As a
recruiting tool you can use the Forums to increase the awareness of
the workforce demand within your industry.
Serve On an Advisory Board
Vital Link facilitates Advisory Boards
for the four Regional Occupational Program (ROP) regions in Orange
County. We need knowledgeable professionals to serve on the Boards
to provide the instructors with information about specific
industries to keep the classroom material current and relevant.
